Time for some behind the scenes magic! I often describe to my clients what the different phases of editing entail, but I think a visual example is more impactful. Yes? So, here is what you’re seeing below, in the images of this lovely woman I photographed recently:
RAW FROM CAMERA – Zero editing. Outdoor location with a softbox light. The image is just a tiny bit on the warm side.
+ BASIC EDITS – In Lightroom, I cooled down the color tone a little, and adjusted the light and contrast a tad to make her “pop” more.
BASIC EDITS – This is exactly the same as the + BASIC EDITS pic. I just wanted to carry through to the final step for comparison.
+ TOUCH-UPS – This is the final image, and all of these last edits are done in Photoshop. She had a slight break out on shoot day. Skin and hair ALWAYS goes bonkers on a day you have photos taken. #amiright So, I reduced those blemishes a little, without making her skin look fake or airbrushed. It was a crazy hot day (Atlanta!), so I lessened the shiny spots caused by Momma Nature. I also smoothed some areas of the shirt. Some people might freak out about the fly-away hairs. I often edit those for folks too, but I just loved how the breeze was catching her hair in this shot.
Tah-dah! Now you know all my secrets. I think it’s only fair that you tell me one of yours now. : )
If there are any other before & afters you’d like to see, give me a holler, and I’ll try to oblige. Yep!
