Hiya!  Awfully nice of you to visit my little ol' blog.

A quick description of me would be that I love my family, my friends, life, photography, and pancakes.

I live in Atlanta with my giant dog Fletch, and spent the first chunk of my working days as a scientist.  Then, I shifted some major gears, and started my photo biz nearly seven years ago.  I feel extremely lucky to have a career that is always changing and always challenging.  I'm grateful for every day that I get to wake up and do what I love.

I'm drawn to all forms of art, and multiple styles of photography.  However, I'm moved most by personality and character.  This is what set me on the path to doing portraiture.  Whether I'm shooting a beautiful wedding, a happy family, or a beloved pet, I'm always a portrait photographer.  I want every image to speak volumes and make it's viewer linger just a little longer.

I wear my heart proudly on my sleeve, and that's what you will get from my photos.  I will glady give you a little bit of myself in every frame I shoot.

family portraits at the goat farm

I have to give a big ol’ YAY to Melissa, Doug, and Miss A. They make me happy for several reasons. It was my first time working with a family at the wonderful Goat Farm here in Atlanta. They were so sweet and patient, and I’m convinced they have powers to keep rain away. I had the honor of taking photos of a lovely, jump-roping princess! Most importantly, I got to meet a really great family. Thanks bunches and bunches to the three of them!

anne + bart’s p-booth

Just one more way that Anne and Bart totally spoiled me rotten on their awesome wedding day……the beautiful, giant, red, weathered barn I got to use as a backdrop for their photo booth. I now want all photo booths to be fraught with barn! Also, their wonderful guests really knew how to make the most of the posing opportunities. Yay to all the pirates, cowboys, princesses, and all the folks who made this so much fun. Woo hoo!

anne + bart

Dear Anne and Bart, you did it right. I seriously can’t think of a single way this day could have been better. I’ve known these two incredible people for years, and had no doubt that they’d plan a pretty memorable wedding. It was even cooler than I imagined. All the delicious details and decorations, the gorgeous farm, a mariachi band to escort everyone to the reception, a s’mores station, a lantern release…….I mean, come on!! You know an event is special when the guests are already talking about how great the day was, before it’s even over. Anne looked so completely beautiful. We all know Bart is a southern gentleman, and he totally looked the part. These two are some of the smartest and wittiest folks you’ll meet. So, I don’t think we were surprised by the moments that made us laugh, but I’m not sure we knew how moved we’d be by the ceremony. It was so honest and sweet, I don’t think a single eye was dry. I’m crying now just thinking about it. Anne and Bart, I can’t thank you enough for allowing me to take part in such a super-wonderful day in your lives.

Stay tuned! There will be another, separate post of some of the photo booth pics. So much fun!!

I have to give mad props to my awesome second shooter, Shannon Jenkins of Offhand Photography. Shannon, I’m always lucky to be around your personality and talent.

anna + brendan

Back in 2009, I had the pleasure of shooting Sarah and Dan’s wonderful wedding day on their family’s gorgeous property in Kennesaw. So, I was thrilled to have been asked back for Dan’s cousin Anna’s exchange of vows with her groom, Brendan. The lovely couple, their family, and their friends couldn’t have been more kind and welcoming. It was a relaxed, happy, and fun celebration. Those are the best! Congratulations, Anna and Brendan!

Some special thanks to:

Bridget Baker of An Elegant Occasion, who coordinated the fantastic reception at the Hilton Atlanta/Marietta Hotel & Conference Center

Sharon Wheaton of Alternative Life Photography, for being my super-cool second shooter

Night Shift Revival Band, for providing all the great music

The florals by K Mike Whittle Designs were so pretty
