Hiya!  Awfully nice of you to visit my little ol' blog.

A quick description of me would be that I love my family, my friends, life, photography, and pancakes.

I live in Atlanta with my giant dog Fletch, and spent the first chunk of my working days as a scientist.  Then, I shifted some major gears, and started my photo biz nearly seven years ago.  I feel extremely lucky to have a career that is always changing and always challenging.  I'm grateful for every day that I get to wake up and do what I love.

I'm drawn to all forms of art, and multiple styles of photography.  However, I'm moved most by personality and character.  This is what set me on the path to doing portraiture.  Whether I'm shooting a beautiful wedding, a happy family, or a beloved pet, I'm always a portrait photographer.  I want every image to speak volumes and make it's viewer linger just a little longer.

I wear my heart proudly on my sleeve, and that's what you will get from my photos.  I will glady give you a little bit of myself in every frame I shoot.

rachel + greg

Am I a little excited about this post? You betcha!! These images have been years in the making. From the time that Carol said she wanted me to shoot her daughter’s wedding some day, to the actual big day…..about six years later. Rachel and Greg’s wedding was full of all the beauty and joy that I had expected, and then some. They are such a lovely, kind-hearted couple, who love to laugh. I couldn’t be more pleased to have been there to capture all the wonderful moments. I’m beyond happy for these two, and know they’ll have an incredible married life ahead of them.

The shout-outs!

Second Shooter – Robin Nathan, my partner in crime.

Venue – The Payne Corley House. led by event specialist Jennifer Fulford

Florals – Debra Wood of Brides and Blooms

Cake – Melonie Stanger of For Goodness Cakes

kaylee + nate’s wedding

If you don’t like a lot of jibber-jabber on photo blogs, you might want to scroll down now, because I have to write some things about this wedding. I met Nate, the dashing groom, when he was about 10 years old. I feel like I’ve watched him transform from an energetic, curious kid, into a smart and grounded young man. Nate’s father, Dave, is a dear friend of mine. Dave’s wedding to his incredible wife, DeAnn, was the very first wedding I ever shot. I definitely have a special place in my heart for this family, so I was thrilled to be there for such a welcomed celebration. I couldn’t imagine a more perfect match for Nate than his beautiful new wife, Kaylee. Her kind and fun-loving spirit clearly add to the connection they share. I will now stop yammering, and let you enjoy some images from this really wonderful day. Many congratulations, Kaylee and Nate!

After another wonderful, wedding-packed weekend, I thought I’d spread a little love. Robin second shot for me during Rachel and Greg’s fabulous wedding day. We could probably start a joint photo biz called “The Snarky Sisters”. There’s a special comfort when you’ve worked with someone long enough to fully trust what they’re doing. On top of that, it’s even better when you know that they “get” you.

Exhibit A: One of the reasons I love Robin is that she does the BEST light-check dances!

Exhibit B: After 4 years, she still hasn’t given up the dream of snapping a “normal” photo of me. Keep on keepin’ on, Robin!

julie + mike’s wedding

I say this all the time, and I’ll keep saying it until people tell me to stop (and then I’ll just say it a little bit longer still). I love second shooting at weddings. One of the reasons is that you get an opportunity to shoot so many different types and styles of events. I tend to shoot a lot of elegant, artsy, DIY, and rustic-type weddings. I could shoot those every day, y’all! My pal Robin Nathan typically books beautiful weddings that I refer to as “faaaaaancy”. I think on more than one occasion, I’ve said to her, “I’m pretty sure that centerpiece costs more than my car”. So, when I shoot for her and she shoots for me, we get to mix up our styles a bit. Yay! With all that said, here are some pics I took at one of Robin’s events, with the wonderful Julie and Mike.
