Hiya!  Awfully nice of you to visit my little ol' blog.

A quick description of me would be that I love my family, my friends, life, photography, and pancakes.

I live in Atlanta with my giant dog Fletch, and spent the first chunk of my working days as a scientist.  Then, I shifted some major gears, and started my photo biz nearly seven years ago.  I feel extremely lucky to have a career that is always changing and always challenging.  I'm grateful for every day that I get to wake up and do what I love.

I'm drawn to all forms of art, and multiple styles of photography.  However, I'm moved most by personality and character.  This is what set me on the path to doing portraiture.  Whether I'm shooting a beautiful wedding, a happy family, or a beloved pet, I'm always a portrait photographer.  I want every image to speak volumes and make it's viewer linger just a little longer.

I wear my heart proudly on my sleeve, and that's what you will get from my photos.  I will glady give you a little bit of myself in every frame I shoot.

john’s new headshots

Johnny B! Life would just not be the same without the snarky retort between myself and this person. I’ve known John for years, and he’s one of my favorite people to make fun of and be made fun of by. I’m sure he’ll chastise me for the grammar in that last sentence. By the way, he’s also a very charming and talented guy. Now, I apologize for the fact that you have to look at his face (that was for you, John!).  : )

the launch of “mug tots”

If cuteness is a crime, we are in some serious trouble. I just launched yet another portrait series I’ve been wanting to start for a while. I’m calling it “Mug Tots”, and we’ll be taking fun mug shot-type photos of little ones, along with their supposed bad deeds. My little buddies June and Henry were nice enough to volunteer. Man, I adore those two. June’s outfits could not have been better. Henry clearly had been out clubbing the night before with his hand stamp. Later in the day, Aja and McKenna stopped by to pick up a photo package. McKenna was in full princess attire, so thank goodness they wanted to get in on this too. Yay!

If you’re interested in doing a shoot like this with one of your kiddos, or if you know someone who might, let me know. I’ll be offering really inexpensive options for these (like, only $50 for the basics, and $100 for basics with extra stuff)!

Thanks so much to the super-awesome families who helped me get this started. Also, be careful going around town in case you run into one of these little troublemakers.  : )

aja + mckenna

I am really fortunate to meet and work with so many wonderful people. I first met Aja right after McKenna was born, when we did their first photo shoot. It was fantastic to see both of them again for more adorable mom & daughter pics. Aja is a lovely, vibrant, and sweet lady. McKenna has completely cornered the market on character and personality. We had a great time shooting around Grant Park. Although, the magic in these photos has little to do with the “where”, and everything to do with the “who”. Aja and McKenna, you are a total joy.

McKenna signs “I love you” for her mom. So sweet!

ashley + vor’s engagement

Ashley and Vor are what engagement shoot dreams are made of. They are charming, stylish, fun-loving, gorgeous, romantic, and have a really cute doggie. Win, win, win, win, win, win! On top of all that, we shot at The Goat Farm, which is an absolute gem of a place right here in Atlanta. We had the coolest day of photo play time, and I’m so lucky to have met two such swell people. Vor and Ashley, thank you for being so dang wonderful!

the medford family

It was wonderful to see the Medfords again! Wow, the last time we took photos, Ian had just been born. Time flies! He’s turned into such a cutie, and he’ll get to be a big brother very soon. By “very”, I mean that the baby will probably have arrived when this post goes up. Yay! I can’t wait to meet up with them again to take pics of their new little family member. I had forgotten how fun Amy and Brian are to photograph. They still have that magical combination of sweetness and romance. I’m so happy for this lovely family!

scars of ours – brittney

I’m happy to have any excuse for some photo time with the Gove family. They are the bestest. What I learned during this particular shoot is that Brittney has some lovely scars, and a pretty incredible story of how they came to be. Also, when I give a piece of camera equipment to a toddler to distract her during a recording, maybe it shouldn’t have velcro. I should also explain why Brittney and I crack up right after she said she thought she had died. Right on cue, that’s when little Eleanor let out a couple fantastic baby toots. Yay! Brittney, I can’t thank you enough for sharing your wonderful markings and story.

Here’s the audio of Brittney telling her story.
