Hiya!  Awfully nice of you to visit my little ol' blog.

A quick description of me would be that I love my family, my friends, life, photography, and pancakes.

I live in Atlanta with my giant dog Fletch, and spent the first chunk of my working days as a scientist.  Then, I shifted some major gears, and started my photo biz nearly seven years ago.  I feel extremely lucky to have a career that is always changing and always challenging.  I'm grateful for every day that I get to wake up and do what I love.

I'm drawn to all forms of art, and multiple styles of photography.  However, I'm moved most by personality and character.  This is what set me on the path to doing portraiture.  Whether I'm shooting a beautiful wedding, a happy family, or a beloved pet, I'm always a portrait photographer.  I want every image to speak volumes and make it's viewer linger just a little longer.

I wear my heart proudly on my sleeve, and that's what you will get from my photos.  I will glady give you a little bit of myself in every frame I shoot.

leslie + jason’s wedding

I teamed up once again with the lovely Robin Nathan (of Robin Nathan Photography) to second shoot for Leslie and Jason’s fabulous wedding day at the gorgeous St. Regis. You should totally click HERE to check out Robin’s blog and post from their big day. It was a beautiful event with a wonderful couple. Congratulations, Leslie and Jason!

Here are some of the images I snapped throughout this fantastic day.

put a bird on it

Surely, one of the cool brides I work with will want this. Birdcage veil, complete with origami BIRD! Please? It’s from the wonderful Etsy shop of Jollejye. Check out all the loveliness they have!

tim portraits

Yet another great thing about being a photographer is that it’s the perfect excuse for me to get together with folks that I need some catch-up time with.  My swell pal Tim, who’s also the Grand Poobah over at Push Push Theater, needed some portrait-type photos for various purposes.  Thank goodness, because we needed some serious chat-em-ups.  Photo playtime, grab a beer after, everybody wins!  Disclaimer: no hands, chairs, or adorable blonde offspring were harmed during this shoot.  An apple may have been harmed during this shoot.

ash + karen’s wedding slideshow

I put together a little slideshow for Karen and Ashley to share with their friends and family.  Last month, they had an elegant and intimate wedding day at Callanwolde Fine Arts Center here in Atlanta.  Everything was so charming, and working with this sweet couple was an absolute dream.

Here are a few of my favorite images by photographer Edward Steichen, along with a favorite quote of his.

the gove family – secret edition

As if the Gove family wasn’t already cool enough, they set up a secret photo shoot with their cutie-pie niece to give as a gift to her mom for Christmas.  Then, add 2 more points for their location choice: Jake’s Ice Cream at the Irwin Street Market!  I’m gonna throw in another 2 points for how great it was to see McKenna again.  The last time I took her photos, she was a brand new little baby.  She and sweetie Eleanor are obviously competing for who can up their adorable factor the most.  It’s a tie!

Just like always, the Gove/Gray family was beyond fun and a total joy to have photo playtime with.  Also, a big heap o’ thanks to Jake for letting us use his wonderful space!

arin + ryan

Ok, ok.  My friends like to tease me by saying that I must have a clause in my contract that states, “I will only shoot beautiful people”.  This post is not going to help argue against that case.  Arin and Ryan are gorgeous.  However, I wish my images could also show you what lovely hearts they have as well.  I was SO fortunate to get some photo playtime with them only two days before their New Year’s Eve wedding.  Arin deserves super bravery points for running around during photos in her dress before she had to wear it down the aisle.  Yay, Arin!  We had such a fun and cool day together taking oodles of pics while they were being all stunning and adorable.  We started at the W Hotel in Midtown.  Love. That. Place.  Then, we headed over to the Mason Murer Fine Art Gallery, which is where their wedding was held.  This place pretty much blew my mind, guys.  I even got to attend their big day on NYE, and it was downright spectacular.  Arin and Ryan, thank you so much for being exactly who you are, and a million congratulations on this exciting new chapter of your life together!
