Hiya!  Awfully nice of you to visit my little ol' blog.

A quick description of me would be that I love my family, my friends, life, photography, and pancakes.

I live in Atlanta with my giant dog Fletch, and spent the first chunk of my working days as a scientist.  Then, I shifted some major gears, and started my photo biz nearly seven years ago.  I feel extremely lucky to have a career that is always changing and always challenging.  I'm grateful for every day that I get to wake up and do what I love.

I'm drawn to all forms of art, and multiple styles of photography.  However, I'm moved most by personality and character.  This is what set me on the path to doing portraiture.  Whether I'm shooting a beautiful wedding, a happy family, or a beloved pet, I'm always a portrait photographer.  I want every image to speak volumes and make it's viewer linger just a little longer.

I wear my heart proudly on my sleeve, and that's what you will get from my photos.  I will glady give you a little bit of myself in every frame I shoot.

chrissie + alan’s wedding

Chrissie and Alan are on my beam.  Or maybe I’m on theirs.  Either way, I hope there’s room on the beam for all of us.  What I mean, is that they know how to have a wedding with a cute theme, while keeping everything emotionally moving and classy.  How cool is that?  When they told me about their TV show theme, I was hooked.  They put together so many awesome details.  We made a bunch of TV props for their photo booth, they had photos of them acting out characters from shows on the dinner tables, and they even had a pre-ceremony string section playing TV theme songs.  Seriously, you gotta love these two.

Alan and Chrissie, you were a total joy to work with.  Your family and friends were equally wonderful.  I wish you all the best in your married life, and I’m certain you’ll continue making each other as happy as you did on your wedding day.

Also, stay tuned for a post of their wonderfully wacky photo booth pics.  Yay!

Now, it’s shout-out time, y’all!  I have to give a blog nod to all the other folks who contributed to the beautiful wedding day I’ve posted here.

First and foremost, my brilliant and lovely second shooter Robin Nathan.  She’s the bees knees.

Wedding Coordinators – Magnolia Events & Planning They really know their business, and their events always run so smoothly.  They rock!

Venue – Callanwolde Fine Arts Center Love this place!

Catering – Bold American Events Yummy!  They even handed out “sweet treats” at the end of the night.

Hair/Makeup – Brushworx They glammed up Chrissie so beautifully.

Florals – Andy Beach The bouquets and arrangements were perfect, bold colors for a fall wedding.

moments – with robin and stacey

Oh, I love me some Robin Nathan.  Not just because she’s an awesome second shooter.  Not just because she brings me doughnuts.  Definitely because she’s willing to be silly with me.  Shooting weddings is hard work, but I think it’s crucial to focus less on how exhausting it can be, and concentrate more on the joy of it all.  Yay!  Robin is a great partner in crime when it comes to that.  She understands the mix of professionalism and fun.

This video clip cracks me up.  I’m testing the light on Robin before shooting a video of Chrissie and Alan.  I apologize for the wack-a-doo sideways orientation.  Like I said, I was testing the light, not my video skills.  : )  Loooogout…..here she comes!

We had to “test” the photo booth before shooting the guests.  Why take a boring test shot when you can play with props?!  Holla!

I hope your day had an acceptable level of weirdness!

moments – chris + angela

Could Angela and Chris be any more adorable and happy?  No way, y’all.  I cannot WAIT to post photos from their casually-elegant wedding.  I am a total DIY freak, and they created so many gorgeous, yummy details for their big day.  When that happens, I’m in utter photo heaven.  More importantly, these two are just a joy to be around.  Until I have a big ol’ photo post ready, here’s their video preview of them sharing their sweet story of getting engaged.  Also, thanks to Angela, my new favorite words are “hawwngry” and “smoochie”.  Congrats, you two!

daily joy – sparkles and a uke-a-thon

I just had to give a quick shout-out to two of my new favorite things.  For about a week now, I’ve been teaching myself the ukulele, and playing it incessantly.  It’s perfect for my tiny, carny hands!  The other new gem that brings me joy is this sparkly pink nail polish.  Instant musical, sparkly joy.  Whoop!  I hope your day is full of songs and shiny things.

the hodgson family

This post should probably come with a warning:  “Viewing may cause pregnancy”.  Michelle brings a new level of beauty to expecting a baby.  And it’s not just one baby, y’all…..she has twins in there!  She possesses such a natural calmness and joy that is downright contagious.  Her whole, gorgeous family shares an obvious excitement about the two new additions.  Even their pup Tank seems thrilled.  By the way, I think Tank is one of the best names ever for a little dog.  I had such a wonderful photo playtime with these sweet folks, and I can’t wait to meet their little ones.  Yay!

moments – chrissie and alan

As expected, Chrissie and Alan’s wedding this Saturday was as fun, beautiful, and wonderful as they are.  I can’t wait to share lots and lots of photos here, including their TV-themed photo booth!  In the meantime, here is the lovely couple telling the fabulous story of how they got engaged.  Any tale involving love, surprises, and red velvet cake, is alright in my book.  Congratulations, Alan and Chrissie!

babies + packaging = necessary cuteness

Anyone who knows me or reads this blog occasionally knows about my utter obsession with packaging.  I mean, come on……it allows me to have fun with design, AND I get to play with glue, ribbon, and doo-dads!  I like to change up my packaging pretty often, while staying within my branding style.  Oh, and a big thanks to Walmart for changing their logo to a yellow flower.  Grrrrrr.  On a happier and less bitter note, I get all kinds of giggly when I package items for shoots with babies.  For adults, I try to stifle my natural attraction to bunnies and glitter.  However, babies deserve all the cuteness in my bag of packaging tricks.  So, I thought I’d post pics of some goodies that I put together this week.  Also, I’d like to give a shout-out to all the cutie-pie babies out there for allowing me the opportunity to use fuzzy elephant stickers!

thriftoria’s secret

Y’all, I love me some thrift store shopping.  I just found these little lingerie gems.  I will add them to my arsenal of Cheeky Lamb Boudoir outfits and goodies.  Note:  other than slips, I typically don’t purchase any second-hand under-pinnings that are worn below the waist.  Those personal items should probably remain, well, personal.  : )  These lovely items pictured here will probably be saved for a shoot involving someone eating cotton candy.  Squeeeee!

the chang family

One of my all-time favorite photo combinations includes a sweet family, an adorable baby, some fabulous weather, and Piedmont Park.  This shoot had everything!  I hadn’t met the Chang family until we arrived that day for our photo playtime.  Right away, I could tell that they’re the coolest, loveliest family.  They said that their cutie-pie little gal was having a grumpy day, but I think she knows what’s up.  All models these days look like they’re angry.  She’s already trendy at 4 months old.

Thanks so much to the super-wonderful Changs!  Also, they get 100 bonus points for the pics with the sunglasses.  Yes!

say something nice

I saw this posted on one my new favorite blogs, Once Lost Home Goods.  Had to share.  Here’s my non-megaphone contribution….”You are unique, and you add something to this world that nobody else can”.  : )
