Hiya!  Awfully nice of you to visit my little ol' blog.

A quick description of me would be that I love my family, my friends, life, photography, and pancakes.

I live in Atlanta with my giant dog Fletch, and spent the first chunk of my working days as a scientist.  Then, I shifted some major gears, and started my photo biz nearly seven years ago.  I feel extremely lucky to have a career that is always changing and always challenging.  I'm grateful for every day that I get to wake up and do what I love.

I'm drawn to all forms of art, and multiple styles of photography.  However, I'm moved most by personality and character.  This is what set me on the path to doing portraiture.  Whether I'm shooting a beautiful wedding, a happy family, or a beloved pet, I'm always a portrait photographer.  I want every image to speak volumes and make it's viewer linger just a little longer.

I wear my heart proudly on my sleeve, and that's what you will get from my photos.  I will glady give you a little bit of myself in every frame I shoot.

amber’s new headshots

Amber, I think I’ve officially lost track of how many times we have had photo playtime over the years.  I think my camera is addicted to Amber pills.  Our most recent shoot was to get her some new, edgier headshots.  Seriously y’all, this is one cool and talented lady.  Also, she’s gorgeous.  In fact, if she wasn’t my friend, I’d probably have to hate her guts on principle alone.  Amber, you’re the bees knees.  This was another fun and wacky adventure, and I’ll climb hills of broken glass at sunset with you any day.

First up, the professional shot.  I’d gladly get in a fake accident just so she could be my fake lawyer.

This next one, I refer to as her Calvin Klein ad.

Then we took a few completely-not-headshot ones.  Yay…..and dayum!

the easton family – summer 2011

Hooray for the summer edition of the super-wonderful Easton family!  Oh my goodness, I ADORE this family.  I first met them when Holli was expecting her sweet little gal, who now has a precious little brother.  Yay!  When I get together with them for photos, I know I can count on oodles of of laughs and cuteness.  You just can’t go wrong with a family this beautiful, relaxed, and kind.  Go team Easton!!

daily joy – meetings and summer girlishness

It’s funny how at my former corporate job, I used to think meetings were the WORST.  At my current job, I think meetings are the BEST!  I just had a wonderful one with two of the loveliest people.  After our chat, I was just thinking about summer and how two of my favorite things this time of year are sandals and sun dresses.  Dang, sometimes I’m such a girl.  Long live unicorns and rainbows!

clifton’s headshots

I’d like to think of Clifton’s headshot session as an elaborate plot for us to finally meet each other.  For years, I’ve heard about how wonderful and talented he is, but our paths of theater goings-on never crossed.  Bummer!  So, I’m glad he needed some new headshots.  Everything I’d heard is true, and he’s wonderful to chat with, and super easy to photograph.  Also, I know I’m a girl and all, but I totally want to steal his wardrobe.  Um, he’s kinda cool n’ stuff.

I’ve gotta give a shout-out to my girl Sloane Warren for working her makeup magic.  Sloane and Clifton have known each other a long time, so this shoot was more like a bunch of pals hanging out.  Gotta love that.

At the end of the shoot, we did a few dramatic, editorial-type pics.  Ooooohhh……

the gove family – summertime edition

Man, the Gove family is just the coolest.  I mean, it’s really not fair to the other photographers out there that I get to be the one taking their pics.  However, I’m ok with being totally selfish in this situation.  Yay!

Their sweet little gal is changing quickly, so we got together for another shoot.  Now, we’ll blink and she’ll be walking and talking.  Kiddos grow up too darn fast, y’all.  Here’s the wonderful, lovely Gove family kickin’ it in the fun and awesome way they do.

most mornings

This is how my computer sees me every morning.  Hello to you, Mac Daddy.  Sorry I always seem so surprised to see you.

fishezzzz

Last night, I had the glorious experience of falling asleep to this sight at the Georgia Aquarium.  Watching this + listening to Arcade Fire = me with gigantic grin on face.  Possibly even cooler….waking up and seeing it all again.  Better than Christmas morning.

susan + annie

After my first photography meeting with Annie and Susan, I remember really hoping that I’d be shooting their wedding.  Not only are they fun, relaxed, and kind, but they also possess a quality that I’m sure every wedding photographer hopes for with their couples……..they are obviously and undeniably in love.  Granted, most couples getting married possess this emotion.  However, with Susan and Annie, every smile or glance they shared could barely contain the joy they were feeling.  It’s a pretty wonderful thing to witness.  I’m sure everyone who knows them understands what I’m describing.

Their celebration was held at the beautiful Old Decatur Courthouse.  Friends and family contributed so much to their big day.  Food, the cake, singing, table set-ups, etc.  It brought a fantastic sense of community to the day that demonstrated how much everyone cares about these two.  It was just the best day.  They even managed to look fabulous during portraits that felt like we were taking them inside a volcano.  Most impressive.  Susan and Annie, thank you  for allowing me to be a part of such a special moment in your lives.  I couldn’t be happier for you as you start this new chapter of your life together.

dellanney’s headshots

This beautiful gal is Dellanney.  We got together recently to shoot some new headshots for her, and I quickly realized how easy she was going to be to photograph.  She has a certain effervescence that really cool to capture.  Also, it was a hot and crazy day where we were shooting, and she was more than trooper.

We HAD to get a couple shots that showed off her shoes.  I mean, they’re purple with skulls on them!!

Near the end of the shoot, she wanted some pics that were a little more dramatic.  I’m always happy to obey that request.  She totally turned up the rock star volume.

Dellanney, thanks for being so sweet, fun, and fabulous!

i put the “oof” in goofy

You know I really trust and like you when I let you hold my camera, AND use it to take dorky photos of me while I try to bust a move.  Susan, you’re swell and it was your wedding day, so I was happy to oblige.  May I submit these as candidates for a possible wedding album cover?  Eeek!  Here’s a heads-up to future and potential clients:  it’s highly likely that I will make both of these faces on your wedding day.  You have been warned.
