Hiya!  Awfully nice of you to visit my little ol' blog.

A quick description of me would be that I love my family, my friends, life, photography, and pancakes.

I live in Atlanta with my giant dog Fletch, and spent the first chunk of my working days as a scientist.  Then, I shifted some major gears, and started my photo biz nearly seven years ago.  I feel extremely lucky to have a career that is always changing and always challenging.  I'm grateful for every day that I get to wake up and do what I love.

I'm drawn to all forms of art, and multiple styles of photography.  However, I'm moved most by personality and character.  This is what set me on the path to doing portraiture.  Whether I'm shooting a beautiful wedding, a happy family, or a beloved pet, I'm always a portrait photographer.  I want every image to speak volumes and make it's viewer linger just a little longer.

I wear my heart proudly on my sleeve, and that's what you will get from my photos.  I will glady give you a little bit of myself in every frame I shoot.

our daily fletch

Somebody is earning his keep.  Fletch spends most of his day shaking the Earth with his barking magic.  However, this is the first time I’ve been able to catch it with the camera.  It’s like the Holy Grail of Fletch photos.  I love how ridiculous he looks…..like he’s singing a tune, and going for the high note.  I’m going to teach him “Loving You” by Minnie Riperton.

bernadette portraits

I recently had a fantastic shoot with a sweet and beautiful gal named Bernadette.  I had taken acting headshots a while back for her lovely cousin, Samin.  Bernadette’s family was in town visiting, and they wanted to work in a portrait shoot for her.  Yay!  She said that she wanted some moody and mysterious images.  Awesome.  She’s such a fun young lady, so I had to work in a few smiley, happy ones too.

Bernadette asked me if she could jump.  My answer to this question is always “YES!”.  Disclaimer (my answer may not be “yes” if you are posing under a ceiling fan, if you are more than 8 months pregnant, or if our shoot is on the edge of a cliff).  : )

Of course, we had to get a photo with her wonderful mom.

Bernadette, it was super meeting you.  Thanks for such a cool and collaborative shoot!

happiness is a warm beach, mamma

Sometimes, you just need to slide your feet into some sand, float in warm water, and let the sun bring your freckles out of hibernation.  Yep.  I can’t believe I was able to limit myself to only a few photos, but here they are.  Even though Saint George is the Patron Saint of Soldiers, I’d like to think that St. George Island is the Patron Saint of Pale Skin.

Mary, Mary….why ya buggin?

After eating my almonds, I thought the plastic bag they were in made a cool, creepy filter.  Beach trickery!

Retro roomie!

Mary might kill me for this one, but it makes me so daggum happy!

Hey Atlanta, how have you been?  I still love you.

yes

Today, it’s particularly nice to be me.  I hope sometime this weekend, you have an experience that makes you feel this great.

later taters

I’m on my way to the beach!  Brain is officially set to “off”.

daily joy – beach blanket bode

In a couple days, this will be totally necessary.  Well, this and 5 bottles of SPF 250+ sunscreen.

daily joy – this lollipop

I just murdered yet another helpless house plant.  Sigh.  I ended the mourning of my begonia by sticking this lollipop in there.  Yay!  I’m sure that in a few weeks, I’ll be writing a post about how I’ve managed to kill this adorable sucker.  Sucker!  Sorry.

tonie’s headshots

Tonie’s shoot was almost too easy.  She is able to change her look and expression in an instant, and she possesses an enviable confidence in front of the camera.  Also, she makes me feel really lazy.  It sounds like she books a ton of work, AND she’s cutting her second album.  She mentioned maybe wanting some shots for the album cover, so we got to collaborate and play around a bit during her last set-up.  I love when a shoot turns a little more edgy and artsy.  Thanks Tonie for being so daggum cool to photograph!

jackie’s headshots

I’m sure this will sound remarkably dorky (especially to a teenager), but girls like Jackie give me hope for the future.  She’s fun and animated, but also very smart, grounded, and kind.  I can only hope her example rubs off on all the other guys and gals her age.

I had a blast working on a recent project with her lovely mom, Elisa.  It was really cool to see her again and get to meet her daughter.  Jackie was wonderfully effortless in front of the camera.  Seriously, how do I get so lucky?  Jackie, thanks for being such a joy to photograph!

how to be alone

This is too lovely to not be shared.  If you’re lucky to have some alone time today, enjoy it!
