Hiya!  Awfully nice of you to visit my little ol' blog.

A quick description of me would be that I love my family, my friends, life, photography, and pancakes.

I live in Atlanta with my giant dog Fletch, and spent the first chunk of my working days as a scientist.  Then, I shifted some major gears, and started my photo biz nearly seven years ago.  I feel extremely lucky to have a career that is always changing and always challenging.  I'm grateful for every day that I get to wake up and do what I love.

I'm drawn to all forms of art, and multiple styles of photography.  However, I'm moved most by personality and character.  This is what set me on the path to doing portraiture.  Whether I'm shooting a beautiful wedding, a happy family, or a beloved pet, I'm always a portrait photographer.  I want every image to speak volumes and make it's viewer linger just a little longer.

I wear my heart proudly on my sleeve, and that's what you will get from my photos.  I will glady give you a little bit of myself in every frame I shoot.

moments: rachel + scott

Here’s a quick video clip of Rachel + Scott from their fabulous wedding yesterday.  I can’t wait to post a bunch of images from their rehearsal, wedding, and photo booth.  Yay!  I’m going to have to find a new way to describe “fun”, because these two are way beyond that.  Here’s the lovely couple describing how Scott popped the question.  Congrats!

somebody’s tired

Apparently, watching me edit photos all day is exhausting.

stacie + martin’s wedding

I’m feeling pretty thankful to have been the photographer from Atlanta, for a gorgeous wedding in North Carolina, with a wonderful couple from London!  Stacie and Martin are the type of people photographers dream of working with.  They are kind, patient, adorable, and quite obviously in love.  On top of all that, they also planned their wedding at an eye-poppingly beautiful venue in the mountains, and included so many pretty, thoughtful details into their special day.  It was completely stunning, and full of the most fun spirit.  I’m grateful that they trusted me to capture this important day after only sharing a few phone calls.

I hope you’re ready for lots of pics, because this post is a big one.  I’ve included both the fabulous wedding day and our day-after shoot.  Please don’t miss the shout-outs at the end.  Also, if you’d like to see even more photos, there’s a slideshow at the bottom of this entry.  I hope you enjoy the photos from this unforgettable wedding.

Now I have to thank some very important folks for helping to make this day so fantastic.

Shannon Jenkins of Offhand Photography – Shannon was my second shooter, and he is super, super, super!  He does incredible work, and you should check out his site HERE.

Elizabeth Hempfling of Events by Elizabeth Ashley – The amazing wedding planner.  Elizabeth, you are the BEST.  I could work with you every day!

Brandon Kop of Stick Boy Bread Co – Cake!  Yummy, and yet almost too pretty to cut into.

Chef Michael Foreman – We also went to brunch at one of his restaurants, Bistro Roca.  If nobody had been around, I would have licked that plate!

Carolyn Clement of Millefleurs – Their floral designs are simply breathtaking.

Gideon Ridge Inn – This is where it all happened.  In my head, I’m already planning a future weekend visit.  When I first saw the mountain views, I actually gasped.

the collins gals

I simply couldn’t adore this family more.  I’ve been photographing them for about 6 years now, and they are just wonderful and fun and awesome.  Their girls are the cutest, and we did a shoot last week as a surprise for their dad.  How cool is that?  This family is always a reminder of why I love my job SO much.

I put together a collage to make a wall hanging that will go in their dad’s office.  Yay!  He can’t have a bad work day when looking at these faces!

moments – stacie and martin

Woo hoo!  I had such a wonderful weekend in NC shooting Stacie and Martin’s gorgeous wedding.  I can’t wait to post oodles of photos.  In the meantime, I wanted to offer a quick video preview of the sweet couple talking about the day they got engaged.  What I don’t love about this clip is that it shows how I still need to hone my video skills.  What I absolutely love about this clip is how it conveys what kind and lovely people Martin and Stacie are.  Congratulations you two!!

chantal’s headshots

This photo shoot was like a little reunion for me.  This lovely lady is Chantal, who I used to work with at the biomedical company.  It’s been far too long since I’ve seen her bright, happy face.  She is a fabulous business woman who needed some headshots/portraits to use for her marketing materials.  Yay!  She was totally made to be in front of a camera.  It’s ridiculous, really.  We had such a blast shooting, talking, and completely cracking up.  My face still hurts from all the smiling.  Thanks for being such a pro, Chantal.  So great to see you again!

matt’s headshots

Man, I have had some cool headshot shoots lately.  These photos are of my pal Matt.  He’s one of the daggum nicest fellas around, and he’s funny and talented to boot.  Triple threat!  I love it when picture time feels more like goofing off than work.  It sure is a swell day when I get to hang with a friend and take lots of photos, especially when that friend does such a swell job in front of the camera (I can actually hear Matt scoffing at that statement right now).  You’re good at this dude….deal with it.  So, here are some pics of this handsome chap, both bearded and baby-faced!

sweet carolina

Tomorrow, I’ll be heading to what feels like my home away from home (at least during wedding season).  I’ll probably drive my second shooter Shannon crazy on our way to NC by singing my special version of James Taylor’s song,”In my car I’m going to Carolina”.

Looking forward to Stacie and Martin’s wedding day, and also views like this…

unexpected rainbows

Today, I had a super-fun shoot with a wonderful family I’ve been working with for several years now.  I was lucky enough to receive a fabulous new piece of artwork, AND a sparkly bracelet.  Doesn’t get much better than that.

happy mother’s day

I love my mom.
