I am really fortunate to meet and work with so many wonderful people. I first met Aja right after McKenna was born, when we did their first photo shoot. It was fantastic to see both of them again for more adorable mom & daughter pics. Aja is a lovely, vibrant, and sweet lady. McKenna has completely cornered the market on character and personality. We had a great time shooting around Grant Park. Although, the magic in these photos has little to do with the “where”, and everything to do with the “who”. Aja and McKenna, you are a total joy.

ashley + vor’s engagement

Ashley and Vor are what engagement shoot dreams are made of. They are charming, stylish, fun-loving, gorgeous, romantic, and have a really cute doggie. Win, win, win, win, win, win! On top of all that, we shot at The Goat Farm, which is an absolute gem of a place right here in Atlanta. We had the coolest day of photo play time, and I’m so lucky to have met two such swell people. Vor and Ashley, thank you for being so dang wonderful!

It was wonderful to see the Medfords again! Wow, the last time we took photos, Ian had just been born. Time flies! He’s turned into such a cutie, and he’ll get to be a big brother very soon. By “very”, I mean that the baby will probably have arrived when this post goes up. Yay! I can’t wait to meet up with them again to take pics of their new little family member. I had forgotten how fun Amy and Brian are to photograph. They still have that magical combination of sweetness and romance. I’m so happy for this lovely family!

I’m happy to have any excuse for some photo time with the Gove family. They are the bestest. What I learned during this particular shoot is that Brittney has some lovely scars, and a pretty incredible story of how they came to be. Also, when I give a piece of camera equipment to a toddler to distract her during a recording, maybe it shouldn’t have velcro. I should also explain why Brittney and I crack up right after she said she thought she had died. Right on cue, that’s when little Eleanor let out a couple fantastic baby toots. Yay! Brittney, I can’t thank you enough for sharing your wonderful markings and story.

Simply put, Bob is a daggum delight. DEEE-LIGHT! I’m on board with anyone who can match the snarkiness level of myself and Ms. Gina Rickicki. Gina worked her magic, making Bob’s already wonderful features look even more flawless. Yay! Bob was embarrassingly easy to photograph. Also, he laughed with us, was patient and courteous during some crazy wind gusts, and put up with Gina and I making references to “The Thorn Birds”. I mean, slap my face if he don’t look like a young Richard Chamberlain. Bob, thanks for a really fun photo time!

One of the burdens of being a photographer is that sometimes instead of snapping pics, you’d rather goof off and chat with the folks you’re shooting. Definitely the case with Angele. We both kept having to force ourselves to stop talking so that we could get to the task at hand. Sigh. What is NOT a burden about working with Angele is that she is beautiful, easy-going, and ridiculously easy to photograph. I’ve known this lovely gal for years, and I’ve always thought that she has one of the most captivating faces. SO glad I finally had a chance to get her in front of a camera. Thanks, Angele!!

gorey project – wade

My first installment of the Edward Gorey-ish, “Gashlycrumb Tinies“-inspired photo project could have been called “the roommate edition”. So, this one could be called “the boyfriend edition”. One of my favorite things about the Gorey drawings is how subtly most of the deaths are portrayed, often as a “before” versus an “after”. This one is definitely implied, and you might have to look closely. One of my favorite things about Wade, is that there are too many favorite things to list. However, I will give an honorable mention to his wicked mustache.

Ryan’s story is a pretty incredible example of a life-changing experience, as well as important advances in surgical procedures. I mean, minimally-invasive valve repair! Ryan, thanks so much for sharing your story, and for our continued conversation afterward, when I got to dust off my old cardiovascular implant knowledge. Also, I’m pretty sure that the end of every shoot should be celebrated with milk and cookies.

Oh, now where do I start with this uber-lovely little lady? Y’all. I love Jenny. Anyone who knows Jenny, loves Jenny. Was I just a TAD happy when she wanted to do a Cheeky Lamb Boudoir shoot? Perhapsibly. We got to have the most girly-awesome photo time, and her hubby got a very, very special birthday present this year. Yes. When you look at how jaw-droppingly gorgeous she is in these pics, and you wanna start hatin’……don’t. She’s also whip-smart, talented, and the daggum sweetest thing since swirly blue lollipops.

I could not write this post without giving mad, stupid props to the incredible Miss Gina Rickicki for her kick-ass hair and makeup styling. I mean, seriously Gina! Seriously.

Robert totally gets the prize for making it through a particularly crazy headshot shoot. The weather was really beautiful, but that breeze that surely everyone was enjoying, was not playing nice with my light stands. Even with my heaviest sand bags, that darn thing kept trying to topple over. Both Robert and I would keep running to save it while yelling something like “WAAA!”. He was so patient while we adjusted this-and-that, and during several “Mother Nature” breaks amid the worst of the wind. He gets an A+ for not showing the madness in his photos, posing with ease, and being super cool to shoot and work with. Great job, sir. Thanks SO much, Robert!
