"the meeting of two personalities is like the mixing of two chemical substances...if there is any reaction, both are transformed" - jung

Hiya!  Awfully nice of you to visit my little ol' blog.

A quick description of me would be that I love my family, my friends, life, photography, and pancakes.

I live in Atlanta with my hubby, and I'm pleased to say that we both work as, what I like to call "functioning artists".  I started my photo biz nearly five years ago, and feel lucky to have a career that is always changing and always challenging.  I'm greatful for every day that I get to wake up and do what I love.

I'm drawn to all forms of art, and multiple styles of photography.  However, I'm moved most by personality and character.  This is what set me on the path to doing portraiture.  Whether I'm shooting a beautiful wedding, a happy family, or a beloved dog, I'm always a portrait photographer.  I want every image to speak volumes and make it's viewer linger just a little longer.

I wear my heart proudly on my sleeve, and that's what you will get from my photos.  I will glady give you a little bit of myself in every frame I shoot.

nancy + john in atlanta weddings

Woo hoo!  John and Nancy’s fabulous wedding is featured in the current issue of Atlanta Weddings.  They had such an unforgettably beautiful day, and I’m so happy that lots of other folks will get to see a sample of the coolness.

Here are the covers of the magazine…

…and here’s Nancy and John!

michelle + joe’s wedding

As wedding season continues, I’m happy to post images from yet another unforgettable event.  I second-shot with my friend and photo pal Robin Nathan on Michelle and Joe’s big day.  It took place at The Temple here in Atlanta, and this sweet couple couldn’t have looked more wonderful.  Their love for each other instigated a lot of emotion throughout the day, and I have to admit, I had a hard time holding back tears during a few moments.  These folks also know how to paaarrrrttttyyy!  Their band was Kingsized, so that pretty much guarantees a good ol’ time.  Woo hoo!

Here are a few of my shots from this memorable day!

tiffani + andrew’s wedding

Yay!  Here’s another fabulous wedding I second shot with the lovely Robin Nathan.  This was the big day of Tiffani and Andrew.  Getting ready began at the Homewood Suites, and then the ceremony and festivities were held at the charming Gardens at Kennesaw Mountain.  I’m really happy for this sweet couple, and they definitely know how to have fun.  Yay!

Here are some images I captured during their super event

niles + ali’s wedding

Yay!  I got to second shoot another fabulous wedding with Robin Nathan.  Any photographers who haven’t tried second shooting, you are missing out.  It’s way fun.  I have two more events to post that I recently second shot with Robin.  It’s a busy season!  The images I’m posting here are from the super gorgeous wedding day of Ali and Niles.  If you look up “bride” in the dictionary (or on Wikipedia!), there should be a picture of Ali there.  The festivities were held at the lovely East Lake Golf Club.  It was an all-around fantastic time.  Also, Kingsized was the band, so my ears were very, very happy.

Here are some of the photos I captured throughout the day….

christina + tom’s wedding

What a swell day!  A couple weeks ago, I had the pleasure of second shooting the lovely wedding of Christina and Tom with the fabulous Robin Nathan.  The adventure began at the Marriott Renaissance Hotel for all the getting ready.  The ceremony was held at Saint Thomas More in Decatur.  Then, the reception moved on to one of my favorite places….Fernbank Museum of Natural History.  Dinosaurs!

Everything was spectacular.  Here are some photos I snapped throughout the occasion!

Here’s adorable Lauren.  Earlier this year, I had so much fun shooting her Cheeky Lamb portraits.  Yay!  Can’t wait to shoot her wedding with Robin in a couple months!

steve + christina’s wedding

Wow, wowwww, and WOW!  I surely don’t have the right words to sufficiently describe how thrilled I am to post these photos.  Not only was this a beautiful beach wedding in South Carolina, but I’ve also known the groom for about 12 years, AND he used to be my boss when I worked at the biomedical company.  How crazy awesome is that??!!  All my worlds came together in the coolest way.  Steve and Christina are both such laid-back, lovely people.  I couldn’t be happier that they found each other.

I have to fill you in on some of the fabulous details.  Everyone stayed at the luxurious Charleston Place Hotel, and it was so cozy that I really didn’t want to leave.  The ladies got all gussied up at Salon Solace, and the guys got massages and an old-fashioned shave at Gents Barberspa.  Then we all headed out to Folly Beach for their sunny ceremony.  I was lucky enough to get some time alone with the bride and groom for some photos on the beach before we drove back into Charleston for their elegant reception at Anson Restaurant.  The decorations at the reception dinner were deliciously pretty.  I think my favorite new wedding colors are hot pink and navy.  For real!

Steve looked so dashing, and Christina was an absolutely breathtaking bride.  However, what was most apparent was how much these two people love each other.  Just doesn’t get any better than that!

If you want to see more photos of this incredible day, please check out the slideshow at the end of this post!

Before leaving Charleston, I got to spend some more photo time with them shooting their Day After pics.  Stay tuned to see those….

cassie + keith’s vow renewal

As if Sara and Scott hadn’t already earned their share of awesome points during their way cool Halloween wedding last year, they also now get credit for allowing me to get to know their friends Cassie and Keith better.  A couple months ago, I got a voice message from Cassie.  It was one of those messages that was so lovely and sweet that I probably kept it on my phone longer than I should have.  She was hoping that I might be able to photograph an event she was planning.  She and her hubby, Keith, were going to renew their vows in celebration of their 10 year anniversary.  What a fabulous reason for some photos!  I don’t throw around the word “blessed” too often, but I do feel really blessed that they wanted me to capture this day for them.  It was a beautiful event that included their two adorable sons, family, friends, food, and even a loud train that crashed the ceremony.

Here are some of the images I snapped, and there are more pics in a slideshow at the end of this post.  Woo hoo!

Cassie has one of the brightest, warmest smiles you’ll ever see.

It’s a cutie-pie sandwich!

I love this one of the boys spying on mom and dad.

Their celebration was held in downtown Acworth, which had some really charming places to take photos.  Yay!

Cassie put out some super pretty decorations.

I was a little obsessed with all the wonderful mirrors in the space.

The whole gang!  Gotta love people that are okay being a little goofy.

Keith and Cassie talked about how important their boys are to them, and presented both of them with a special engraved tag to wear around their necks.  So cool.

She brought a gift certificate that she wasn’t able to find on her original wedding day.  If I have the story right, I think she was pretty upset when it was lost 10 years ago….and I believe Keith found it on this day when they renewed their vows.  Isn’t that wild?!

The boys were so cute checking out the trains going by.

Thanks so much you two, and here’s to another fantastic 10 years!

hastings + lee wedding

Elegant, sophisticated, joyful, classic.  These are just a few words that describe Hastings and Lee’s fabulous wedding day.  The event began at the majestic Peachtree Christian Church, where excited anticipation grew.  The bride and groom had loved ones assist them with the last details of preparing for the ceremony.  Adjusting the tie.  Getting the veil just right.  Family and friends began to arrive in sharp, dapper attire and fancy ball gowns to witness two wonderful people commit their lives to each other.  Pretty cool, huh?  These two are such a loving couple, and I am super happy for them, and happy to share some photos from their big day with you.

After the ceremony, everyone moved on to the Four Seasons Hotel for some dinner and LOTS of dancing. The hotel staff were all so friendly and accommodating.  I also have to give a big shout-out to my fantastic second shooter Robin.  She’s the best!

Here, the guys are belting out “Mustang Sally” with the band.  The dance music all night was performed by Infinity Show Band, and they were awesome.

two previews in one

It’s been a busy week, and I can’t wait to have full blog posts up about the One Light Workshop I just attended, and Hastings and Lee’s wedding that I shot yesterday.  In the meantime, here’s an image from the wedding where I used a technique I learned at the workshop.  Woo hoo!

bust. a. move.

I love to dance.  Any style, any place.  Every now and then, Matt and I will have what we call a “Friday Night Dance Party” where we hang out in the basement while he plays dee-jay, and I dance around like an idiot.  Yay!

One of the many things I love about my clients is that they know how to have FUN!  So, I decided to do a little tribute to some of the best move-busting moments of 2009.  I hope this puts a smile on your face, and maybe makes you want to get up and break it down.

I adore how joyful John’s mom was.

I’m sure there was a time in my life when I could do this next maneuver.

I love how this little gal is so full of confi-dance!  Yes, I just made that up.

There may not have been any “official” dancing at Evita and Michael’s wedding, but Trudy dances to the beat (and music) of her own drum.

I want to be this couple when I grow up.  Smokin’.

Dell and Ferlando’s wedding even had an impromptu limbo contest!

You break it down, Jessica!

Sarah and John even danced it out during their ceremony exit!

If both feet actually leave the floor during dance time, I am way impressed!

I hope everybody has fun dancing their way into 2010!
