Hiya!  Awfully nice of you to visit my little ol' blog.

A quick description of me would be that I love my family, my friends, life, photography, and pancakes.

I live in Atlanta with my giant dog Fletch, and spent the first chunk of my working days as a scientist.  Then, I shifted some major gears, and started my photo biz nearly seven years ago.  I feel extremely lucky to have a career that is always changing and always challenging.  I'm grateful for every day that I get to wake up and do what I love.

I'm drawn to all forms of art, and multiple styles of photography.  However, I'm moved most by personality and character.  This is what set me on the path to doing portraiture.  Whether I'm shooting a beautiful wedding, a happy family, or a beloved pet, I'm always a portrait photographer.  I want every image to speak volumes and make it's viewer linger just a little longer.

I wear my heart proudly on my sleeve, and that's what you will get from my photos.  I will glady give you a little bit of myself in every frame I shoot.

the sylvester family – 2012 edition

This family is pretty special to me. I’ve known these kiddos since they were born, and used to work with their mom. We get together every year for photos, and it’s one of the things I look forward to most. I’ve probably said it in every post about them, but I’m always moved by how much fun Karen and her kids have together, and by how much they clearly love each other. It’s really the coolest. Thanks to the ever-fabulous Sylvesters for another super-awesome photo time!!!

the fristoe family

I have had the pleasure of knowing the Fristoes for some time now, but I finally got to meet little Miss Tweed. Yay!! She is a dream. How can you not love a gal who enjoys smiling, twirling, reading, and eating lemons! She was curious and easily entertained, and not at all afraid of the camera. In fact, she was so intrigued by my crazy device, I thought about letting her take over for a while. I have the best time with the families I work with, like the Fristoes. They wear their love on their sleeves, and it’s a joy to see and photograph.

team klyza!

You know how you can laugh about difficult situations after they happen? Well, before our shoot had even finished, me and the Klyzas were already joking about how we picked THE hottest day of the summer for our outdoor family shoot. Yay! Seriously, you know something isn’t right when you’re at Piedmont Park on the weekend, and you’re nearly the only people there. We were some crazy, sweaty troopers. You can also tell how fantastic a family is when the conditions are harsh, but they are still taking it in stride and making the time fly with their fun and laid-back attitude. This is one fabulous, adorable family. Also, there were sweet doggies along for the wild photo ride. I love when furry friends join in! Many, many thanks to the Klyzas, who managed to be uber cool in the uber heat!

family portraits at the goat farm

I have to give a big ol’ YAY to Melissa, Doug, and Miss A. They make me happy for several reasons. It was my first time working with a family at the wonderful Goat Farm here in Atlanta. They were so sweet and patient, and I’m convinced they have powers to keep rain away. I had the honor of taking photos of a lovely, jump-roping princess! Most importantly, I got to meet a really great family. Thanks bunches and bunches to the three of them!

aja + mckenna

I am really fortunate to meet and work with so many wonderful people. I first met Aja right after McKenna was born, when we did their first photo shoot. It was fantastic to see both of them again for more adorable mom & daughter pics. Aja is a lovely, vibrant, and sweet lady. McKenna has completely cornered the market on character and personality. We had a great time shooting around Grant Park. Although, the magic in these photos has little to do with the “where”, and everything to do with the “who”. Aja and McKenna, you are a total joy.

McKenna signs “I love you” for her mom. So sweet!

the medford family

It was wonderful to see the Medfords again! Wow, the last time we took photos, Ian had just been born. Time flies! He’s turned into such a cutie, and he’ll get to be a big brother very soon. By “very”, I mean that the baby will probably have arrived when this post goes up. Yay! I can’t wait to meet up with them again to take pics of their new little family member. I had forgotten how fun Amy and Brian are to photograph. They still have that magical combination of sweetness and romance. I’m so happy for this lovely family!

team easton – spring 2012

Yay, Easton family! There should be a unit of measurement called “Easton Time”. It will measure fun, giggles, and anything-can-happen-ness. I adore this family, and always look forward to our photo play time. Holli’s sweet little ones have more personality each time I see them, and by the time we’re done shooting, it’s a given that my face will hurt from smiling. A big thanks for yet another wonderful day of Easton Time!

bensch family new arrival

The wonderful Bensch family has welcomed a lovely little gal into the world. Yay! She is pretty darn perfect, you guys. Also, she took her new modeling gig in stride. She was extremely patient, content, and happy while we moved her this way and that. What a trooper. She’s totally living up to her rock star status. I also have to say that I think the last two photos of this post say a lot about newborn babies. It’s all “oooooh!” and sleep. Congratulations to this great family and their sweet little one.

the bensch family

Y’all, sometimes photography can be dangerous. Like when you keep photographing lovely women who make pregnancy look realllllly glamorous. Jenn is definitely one of those ladies. I had the pleasure of working with her and her sweet family right before their newest member was due to arrive. Yay! It was a fun evening of photos, and their little one is about to be welcomed into a wonderful family. Lucky baby!

the gove family – secret edition

As if the Gove family wasn’t already cool enough, they set up a secret photo shoot with their cutie-pie niece to give as a gift to her mom for Christmas.  Then, add 2 more points for their location choice: Jake’s Ice Cream at the Irwin Street Market!  I’m gonna throw in another 2 points for how great it was to see McKenna again.  The last time I took her photos, she was a brand new little baby.  She and sweetie Eleanor are obviously competing for who can up their adorable factor the most.  It’s a tie!

Just like always, the Gove/Gray family was beyond fun and a total joy to have photo playtime with.  Also, a big heap o’ thanks to Jake for letting us use his wonderful space!
