"the meeting of two personalities is like the mixing of two chemical substances...if there is any reaction, both are transformed" - jung

Hiya!  Awfully nice of you to visit my little ol' blog.

A quick description of me would be that I love my family, my friends, life, photography, and pancakes.

I live in Atlanta with my hubby, and I'm pleased to say that we both work as, what I like to call "functioning artists".  I started my photo biz nearly five years ago, and feel lucky to have a career that is always changing and always challenging.  I'm greatful for every day that I get to wake up and do what I love.

I'm drawn to all forms of art, and multiple styles of photography.  However, I'm moved most by personality and character.  This is what set me on the path to doing portraiture.  Whether I'm shooting a beautiful wedding, a happy family, or a beloved dog, I'm always a portrait photographer.  I want every image to speak volumes and make it's viewer linger just a little longer.

I wear my heart proudly on my sleeve, and that's what you will get from my photos.  I will glady give you a little bit of myself in every frame I shoot.

claudia gets cheeky – outside!

Wow!  I am WAY excited to post about my first outdoor Cheeky Lamb boudoir photo shoot.  Claudia simply could not be more gorgeous or more photogenic.  I didn’t measure, but I’m pretty sure her legs are roughly 2 miles long.  Mine are roughly the height of a couch.

I was thrilled when we first met to plan her shoot, and she mentioned wanted something outdoors-y.  I wasn’t sure about the “where”, but it turned out that a friend of hers had the most incredible property that was offered up for our photos.  Yay, friends!  We began by heading out to where they knew of a super location.  I was in the back of the pick-up with my gear.  Just when I thought this was probably the most fun I could have heading to a shoot, 3 beautiful horses and a hilarious goat showed up and began chasing the truck.  I can’t remember when I’ve laughed that hard!  As we began snapping pics, we tried not to notice the rain that attempted to literally dampen our outing.  Claudia was not phased, and I covered my camera with plastic, and we had a blast.  Later on, there were even bats swooping around.  So cool!

I’ve posted four shots of this stunning lady.  Most of the images we captured will be just for her and her hubby to enjoy.  However, she was nice enough to approve these few for your viewing.  Claudia, thank you for being so wonderful, adventurous, and of course….cheeky!!

tom + julia get cheeky

I love that no matter how long I do photography, I never run out of “firsts”.  I am beyond excited about my very first Cheeky Lamb boudoir shoot with a couple!!  This is the second, more sassy half of Tom and Julia’s engagement portraits.  I could not have asked for a more PERFECT couple to do this with.  Not just because they are both crazy gorgeous, but because they are relaxed and fun and smokin’ hot and silly and romantic and AWESOME.  I am a fan.  Also, there was tequila.  All three of us are connoisseurs of good cactus juice.  They were kind enough to help me break my no drinking on shoots rule.  I broke it before, during, and after, actually.  Woo hoo!

So, we hung out at their cool place, listened to music, goofed off, and here’s what we shot…

Meet Mo, the most tolerant cat ever.  Doesn’t mind jumping or sparkly outfits.

Both Mo and Julia got their nails did.

Tom and Julia, I totally adore you both.  Thanks for making another super-duper first happen for me!

marie gets cheeky

Get ready for some va-va-voom!  Marie is a vivacious, sassy, gorgeous lady who recently had some Cheeky Lamb boudoir portraits taken.  I love that these shoots are more like parties than portrait sittings.  She brought along a sweet friend to cheer her on, and the fabulous Sloane Warren was there to work her makeup magic.  With us 4 ladies, the snacks, the wine, and the music……we were probably just one pledge away from being a sorority party!  Besides the whoopin’ it up, another one of my favorite things happened during this shoot.  Marie transformed throughout our session from being a little shy and cautious, to completely owning her shoot.  It’s so cool to witness someone’s confidence exponentially rising, until they are utterly comfortable with who they are and what they’re doing.  There’s nothing more beautiful than that.

These photos will be a gift for Marie’s hubby-to-be, and I think you’ll agree that he’s one lucky fella.

Marie, thank you so much for letting your fun, fiery personality come through in these pics.  You rocked it like nobody’s business!

jaimie gets cheeky

When I met Jaimie, I could tell right away that she was a fun, flirty, edgy kinda gal.  What I couldn’t tell was that she has a magical switch she turns on in front of the camera.  Now, there’s no denying that she’s a beautiful girl.  However, during her Cheeky Lamb boudoir shoot, she was working her expressions, her body language, her lighting, and everything else like she’d been modeling for years.  Years, I tell you!  I want to know how you do the voodoo that you do, Jaimie!!  She was so cool to shoot, that I might just have to keep her all to my photo self, and not let any other photographers take pics of her.  So there!

Here she is showing off some of that magic…

I call this next one, “Cheeky Lamb on a Hot Tin Roof”.  She’s definitely channeling some vintage Liz Taylor here.

If I tried to pull off this next move, there would be comedy.  Jaimie does it, and it’s 100% hotness.

There needs to be new word that means “way more than sexy”, and I would use it to describe these next pics.

Jaimie, you are one sassy, mysterious, rockin’ babe!

post-preview combo

Today, I had the pleasure of judging a photo contest for the West Cobb Shutterbugs!  It’s painfully unnatural for me to critique the art of other people.  My philosophy is that if you like what you created, that’s what’s important.  However, I realize that my comments are also used as a learning tool for the group, so I put my fears of criticizing aside, and chatted away about each photo.  I’m always SO impressed by the work of these folks.  They take some really lovely photographs, and pull off some technical wizardry that makes me want to learn from them too.  You can look at some of their images on their website by clicking HERE.  You should totally check it out.  They are about the nicest people you’ll ever meet, and it’s an honor each time they have me back to talk to the group.

The subject of today’s photo competition was reflections.  I don’t have any of the pretty nature-inspired reflections like they took.  As some of you know, I’m definitely a people-person when it comes to my camera.  However, I thought this post was a good opportunity to share one of my portraits that has a reflection, and give you a quick preview of Jaimie’s Cheeky Lamb boudoir shoot.  Oh boy, I can’t wait to show you more.  She has got some kinda wow factor going on!

lauren gets cheeky

I’m so happy to share some of the images from Lauren’s Cheeky Lamb boudoir shoot.  She is uber-adorable, and really knew how to make the most of her photo shoot.  She brought lots of fun and sassy outfits, and was able to convey a wide spectrum of expressions….sultry, sporty, romantic, provocative, and the list goes on.  It was such a fun day of shooting, as we also did photo sessions of Lauren’s sister Lisa, and her friend Jaimie that day too.  It was really cool how supportive they all were of each other.  There were many squeals and “wow!”s when they’d look at the pics we were taking.  Sloane (our makeup master) and I were also woo-hoo-ing, and I’m sure I was doing my little happy dance I do when I’m excited about the photos.

There was an added reason to celebrate during our shoot since it was also Lauren’s birthday.  Yay!  Everyone should spend their birthdays posing and looking gorgeous!

Lauren, thank you for being so ridiculously fabulous.  I can’t wait to shoot your wedding later this year!  You are going to be one stunning bride.

Lauren and her fiance’ like to cook, so she brought this awesome outfit and a whisk.  Love it!  Hmmm….none of my aprons look like this.

Sports fans, prepare to drool…

Her future hubby is a doctor, and he might need medical attention after seeing this…

Boudoir photos should definitely be this fun.

Lauren, you are lovely times 10!

lenrose gets cheeky

When Lenrose and I met to discuss her Cheeky Lamb boudoir shoot, I knew that we would hit it off great.  She talked about how she’s drawn to images with a certain vintage look to them.  Yes!  I love that look too, and knew she’d be great for it.  So, with the help of fabulous makeup guru Sloane Warren, we helped bring out her inner glamorous bombshell.  So much fun.  Lenrose was  lovely and easy-going, and tolerated all my crazy ideas.  I hope I don’t scare people when I start sentences with “I’m not sure this is physically possible, but….”.  She took it all in stride, and worked her vintage magic in these photos.  Thanks for being such a beautiful subject, Lenrose.

We thought this next one looked oh-so French for some reason.  Ooh la la!

Lenrose did an excellent job choosing her shoot location.  It had a look that blended perfectly with the style of her photos.

I don’t usually like to play favorites with photos, but I may have to make an exception in order to express my love for this last one…

Lenrose, you are one fabulous woman!

lisa gets cheeky

I am so thrilled to post another Cheeky Lamb boudoir photo shoot, and also to show off how incredible Lisa is.  She was a tad nervous about the whole endeavor, but approached her photo shoot with such a brave and fun attitude.  She is one of the most downright likable people I’ve met.  Also, she’s gorgeous.  If I looked like her, I don’t think I’d be reluctant to have my picture taken.  I’d be demanding it constantly.

One of my favorite moments when Lisa and I were planning her shoot was when she mentioned how in love she is with her husband.  They’ve been together a while, they’re parents, AND they still have the hots for each other.  That is just the coolest.

Here are some images of Lisa looking beyond stunning…

Her smile is so bright and fabulous!

I love these next ones because she is just naturally beautiful.

I think she totally looks like Pam Anderson in these next ones.  Sass-y!

I can’t end this post without two very important shout-outs.  The first one is to Sloane Warren who did Lisa’s hair and makeup, and added to the general atmosphere of fun girliness.  The second shout-out is to LISA, who not only rocked her photo shoot, but she also designed my new photo studio logo and helped design the Cheeky Lamb logo too!!  I know what you’re thinking…..looks AND talent.  You’re probably also thinking it’s not fair.  You’re right.

a photo card preview

I have a few more Cheeky Lamb boudoir shoots to post over the next few days.  Woo hoo!  In the meantime, here’s a preview of Lisa’s shoot, and the card design I put together so that she’ll have something fun to give her hubby on Valentine’s Day.  She’s a wonderful, gorgeous lady, and I can’t wait to show you more of her pics.

I have to give a shout-out to the ever-awesome MCP Actions, who not only sell really cool tools for photographers, but there’s also an occasional free-bee.  They recently offered this sweet, modern card design by the Photographer Cafe.  Totally diggin’ it!  I love people who share.

amber gets cheeky

Amber is one of my favorite human beings in general and in front of my camera.  She’s hilarious, sassy, gutsy, and can go from tomboy to sexpot in about 5 seconds.  I think she might know something the rest of us gals don’t, and she aint tellin’.  Just in case you need some evidence, check out these first couple pics we took during her Cheeky Lamb boudoir photo shoot.  She recently went skiing, so I decided we should do some naughty ski bunny shots.  I sincerely hope she wears this outfit the next time she’s on the slopes.

Then we got all film noir up in that hotel room…

Amber, everything about you in this next one makes me swoon.

I guess these posts are already PG-13-ish, so I’m not afraid to say that this next one is BAD-ASS.  If she doesn’t use this as her Facebook profile pic, I’ll be mad.  No pressure, Amber, but I mean really mad.

The origin of some of her true beauty is that she’s not afraid to be goofy.  To me, there are few things prettier than that.

Then things got dirty.  No, not THAT kind of dirty.  The kind with actual dirt that I brought in a ziplock bag.  Yay!

I never knew a closet could be this hot.

Thank you Amber, you stunning creature, you!
