My love of Etsy is not a secret. Can’t get enough of it! I occasionally post some of my favorite items, especially if I think I’ve found something my clients would like. I adore these intricate paper cake topper designs. They are crafted by an artist named Gwen, and you can read an interview with her by clicking HERE. This blog post is a blatant shout-out to my annoyingly talented friend, Evita. She can take anything, do some crafty voodoo to it, and make it way cooler. Seriously. I’ll bet if you gave her some earthworms, a bundle of pipe cleaners, a bag of lawn clippings, and some hot glue, she could make a gorgeous centerpiece for your dining room table.
She has been making some gorgeous neck and shoe adornments, and I had to share them with the webosphere. I’m already trying to narrow down my favorites so I can make a purchase. I think the necklaces would look so cool with a strapless dress, or with a girly white blouse, or a simple tank top. For all the modern, edgy brides out there….how awesome would one of these look with a wedding dress? Pretty awesome, I say.
Here are some pics of her work (photos taken by Miss Evita Smith). Please check out her Etsy shop by clicking HERE. She also has lots more cool images on her Flickr. Yay, Evita!! Keep being the crafty kitten you are!
She does shoe clips too!!!

reason #214: why i’m weird
It’s because this is the only type of photograph I like to be seen in. I often photograph people in mirrors or reflections, which can be so cool….unless my head or my elbow decide to invade the shot. However, when I sneak into a photo in an unexpected way, I think it’s pretty fun. I took the pic below on the beach, and you can see Christina, me (the monkey in the middle), and Steve in the reflection of Steve’s shoe. I also dig how the sand makes it look like we’re all living in a snow globe. Yay! Soon, I’ll be posting lots more images from their super-incredible wedding. For now, this will have to do.
I’ve got another bit of info for any of you out there who have wondered what the big deal is with the pixels when you purchase a camera. A camera with a high pixel number will let you print your images really large, change the size/resolution of the pics, or crop the photos without losing quality. This image below is seriously cropped. The full image is a pic of both the bride’s and groom’s shoes on the beach. The full photo is about 30 times bigger than what you see below. This is why we love lots and lots of pixels….hooray!
smart folks done this
Am I the last person on Earth to find out about this? I’ll go ahead and explain it for those of you like me who still use phones for making phone calls and still say words like “rad” and “choice”. If you go to THIS site, you can enter any URL, to generate a bitmap-y doo-dad like this one below. When anyone sees this, they can take a picture of it with their camera phone, and will be immediately directed to its corresponding website. Ha-CHA! The one I’ve posted is for this blog. I plan to print it out, affix it to a big magnet, and attach it to my car. Even if it doesn’t work as a marketing idea, maybe it will at least improve my street cred.

ode to etsy – part 1
I love Etsy. The way a stressed-out maniac loves his happy place. The way a gal on a bad date loves a margarita. The way my cats will one day love killing me in my sleep. You get the idea.
For those not yet in the know, Etsy is a website where folks can buy and sell mostly handmade items. Think a cooler version of Ebay, and without the pesky auctions.
I never cease to be impressed by the artistry of the sellers I come across, and my wish list just keeps getting bigger and BIGGER! So, I’ve decided to post some occational shout-outs to the wonderful things I’ve discovered while feeding my web obsession.
Today’s installment covers Art & Prints. I highly encourage clicking the links below to see more work by each artist. Some people who win the lottery might buy a fancy car. I’d buy a Honda and decorate the inside with these prints.

Technically, I am an adult. However, I don’t care to live in a world where I can’t buy some crazy rubber monkeys out of a machine for a quarter. These little fellas have been placed atop my monitor, and are now giving me editing tips, offering advice on how to organize my files, and cheering me on when I’m losing a game of Word Twist.
