Hiya!  Awfully nice of you to visit my little ol' blog.

A quick description of me would be that I love my family, my friends, life, photography, and pancakes.

I live in Atlanta with my giant dog Fletch, and spent the first chunk of my working days as a scientist.  Then, I shifted some major gears, and started my photo biz nearly seven years ago.  I feel extremely lucky to have a career that is always changing and always challenging.  I'm grateful for every day that I get to wake up and do what I love.

I'm drawn to all forms of art, and multiple styles of photography.  However, I'm moved most by personality and character.  This is what set me on the path to doing portraiture.  Whether I'm shooting a beautiful wedding, a happy family, or a beloved pet, I'm always a portrait photographer.  I want every image to speak volumes and make it's viewer linger just a little longer.

I wear my heart proudly on my sleeve, and that's what you will get from my photos.  I will glady give you a little bit of myself in every frame I shoot.

HEADSHOTS GALORE

I am SO glad that I shoot acting/modeling headshots. I know they’re not every photographer’s cup of tea, and I respect that. Let’s be honest, these types of photos require more “technical correctness” than “creative awesomeness”. I probably couldn’t get away with putting a Viking helmet on someone and covering them with dirt. Hmmm…. However, these shoots are made so fun by the wonderful folks in front of the camera. Headshots may be somewhat limited artistically, but each person brings limitless personality, making every session unique, challenging, new, and cool. That is a big ol’ win!

Here are some of the most recent and utterly fantastic folks I’ve had the pleasure of sharing photo time with. Y’all are super swell. Thanks for making this such an enjoyable part of my business.

HEADSHOT MINI SHOOT – SPECIAL LIMITED OFFER

Do you need a quick update to your headshots, but don’t necessarily need the full, 3-look photo package? You are in luck! For a very limited time, I’ll be offering a “mini” shoot, which includes one look and location for just $125! Your shoot date simply has to be scheduled sometime this month (April 2013). If you’re interested, please contact me for further details. I limit the number of shoots per day to avoid rushing anyone, so give me a holler before sessions are booked up!

miss jacque

As I’m digging my way out of an editing avalanche, I thought I’d put up a quick post as an ode to one of the fantastic stylist-slash-makeup-artists I work with. Jacque Carder is queen of the on-camera natural look. She also possesses that rare combination of professionalism and silliness that I so enjoy, as do my clients. She will make your skin look flawless, straighten your collar, and probably perform a spontaneous rap. I’m glad that this evening’s shoot provided her with a fake yet loyal “wall boyfriend” and a new fascination with rat traps. Thanks to our awesome client, Joseph, for snapping these pics at the end of his shoot. Stay tuned for photos of that handsome fella.

Here’s how we look probably 90% of the time.

debbie’s headshots

Lately, it has been headshot central here at Stacey Bode Photography, which has given me the chance to work with oodles of awesome people. This beautiful gal is Debbie. She has a magnetic personality, and one of the warmest smiles you’ll find. We were joined by super-swell makeup artist, Jacque Carder. The three of us pretty much giggled our way through the entire shoot. Not a bad way to spend an evening. Yay!

rachel’s new headshots

Wow, it was really great to see lovely Rachel again for a new round of headshots. We first worked together a couple years ago, and she is just as wonderful to photograph now as she was then. I totally envy her infectious smile and her ease in front of the camera. This gal is a gem, y’all. I’m thrilled that she’ll also be involved in my Gorey project in the near future. Stay tuned to see a photo of Rachel embedded in ice!

morgan’s headshots

Surely, Morgan is told all the time how daggum pretty she is. So, instead of pointing out the obvious, I’ll mention how she is sweet, totally fun, and extremely awesome to work with. Yay! I’m glad we got a chance to meet for some new headshots. We managed to get tons of photos, despite curious people trying to interrupt us and narrowly escaping the rain. Seriously, we finished about 30 seconds before the sky opened up. Whew! Morgan, thanks for being so cool!

Special shout-outs to the talented Jacque Carder for working her hair and makeup magic!

jamie’s headshots

It’s headshot season, y’all! It was great to see Jamie again for a new round of photos. One of my favorite moments during our shoot was when I showed him a way to stand while saying I wasn’t sure if it would work as a pose for a guy. Jamie quickly replied, “Um, men don’t do that”. He was totally right. I might think like a dude, but apparently I don’t stand like one. Thanks so much Jamie for understanding how to be male in a photo, and for being such a true joy to work with.

heather’s headshots

My goodness, Heather is such a delight. I saw her give a lovely performance recently in a showcase following a Meisner class she took. My pal Allison was also in the class and was kind enough to send Heather my way. You guys, this gal KNOWS what to do in front of a camera. I asked what her secret was, and she wisely replied, “Don’t over-think it”. Yep. Darn good advice, y’all. Anyway, we had a super-swell time taking her new headshots, and we even had a little graffiti fun at the end. Woo hoo!

horgan’s headshots

Photo shoots with friends are always a treat, so I’m glad that my buddy Horgan (er, Matt) needed some headshots. There was no shortage of giggles, snarky comments, and sandwiches. You heard me. I’m actually amazed that we got any “normal” photos outta this shoot. How did that happen? We must have taken those by accident.  : )

jill’s headshots

I should attach an mp3 of “Against All Odds” to this post. It seemed like the universe did not want us to take Jill’s headshots. It poured buckets of rain that day. Jill had a pretty lengthy drive to get here, and hit unexpected wonky traffic (like bad even for Atlanta, y’all). We were attacked by zombie mosquitoes, and my back went out to the point of where I could barely stand upright. Yay! Despite all of this madness, we not only took Jill’s photos, but we had a swell time doing it. She is an absolutely enjoyable and lovely gal. Thanks for hangin’ in there with me, Jill! You’re awesome.
